A year after losing to Becky Lynch in less than 30 seconds at SummerSlam, Bianca Belair will have her chance to finally get her revenge. After Belair successfully defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Carmella on Monday Night’s Raw, it was officially announced that Lynch would have a shot at the title at SummerSlam on July 30.

Belair took the title from Lynch at WrestleMania earlier this year, but SummerSlam is celebrating the anniversary of Lynch’s surprise comeback and victory over Belair in one of the fastest matches in WWE history.

Also on Monday night, Logan Paul returned to Raw by appearing on Miz TV and convincing The Miz to enter a one-on-one match at SummerSlam.

CBS Sports has been with you all night, covering all the action at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

Belair defeated Carmella and will face Lynch at SummerSlam

Becky Lynch opened the show with an in-ring promotion, again laying out her troubles for not getting another shot at Bianca Belair and the Raw Women’s Championship. She then announced that the winner of the title match between Belair and Carmella would have to face her at SummerSlam. Belair interrupted her and told Lynch that this was not “a Becky Lynch comeback story” but her own comeback from last year’s SummerSlam, where Lynch defeated her in less than 30 seconds. After Carmella intervened in the situation, both Carmella and Lynch attacked Belair before Lynch knocked the champion out with a punch.

Raw Women’s Championship – Bianca Belair (c) beat. Carmella through a pin after being hit with the Kiss of Death. The match began immediately after the attack and with the stipulation that Carmella could win the title by countout. Despite Carmella’s repeated attempts to win by tally, it was Belair who emerged victorious. Lynch captured the title and posed with it in the ring before throwing it at Belair’s feet.

Belair certainly deserves to take down Lynch at SummerSlam as some sort of final retribution from last year. Even defeating Lynch in WrestleMania hasn’t eliminated the stench of the WWE decision in the summer of 2021. However, the WWE constantly going back to the same matches for their biggest events is not exactly impressive. Carmella is to be commended for using her brief rivalry with Belair to show that she has really achieved a lot as a ring worker, as both the Raw match and the Money in the Bank match were way better than she let on. in the past. Aside from Carmella’s progress, it’s still hard to get too excited to find out more about Belair vs. Lynch. Grade: C+
