The Professional Fighters League (PFL) returns this evening (July 1, 2022) with their usual assortment of Friday night action. Welterweights and lightweights are up tonight, all leading up to the main event between two-time tournament champion Kayla Harrison and 15-year veteran Caitlin Young. will provide real-time results and turn-by-turn coverage of the entire game in real time. Round one: Harrison wants to strike early. A powerful double punch puts her in first place with lateral control in just a minute. Strikes when Yang tries to get up. Midfield in two minutes. Throwing right punches with a hook. Full setup from behind and she just keeps punching until the referee intervenes.

Final result: Harrison def. Young via TKO (punches)

170 lbs: Rory McDonald vs. Sadibu Si

Round one: McDonald’s early single leg attempt. Tries to switch to a double, agrees to put him on the fence. One minute. They disperse. Sai delivers a quick kick to the head, then clinches again. McDonald falls to the carpet to try and get a better angle, but two minutes later still nothing. McDonald knees him into the ghouls with two minutes left.

They restart at a distance in the center. Sai dodges the combo and delivers low kicks. McDonald fires again, once again being rebuffed. One minute. They disperse. Straight straight from Sai, jabs behind him. Solid body blow from McDonald in response. Short right against the fence. Sai counters him right before the clinch. 10-9 Sat.

Second round: Both try to start a forward kick. McDonald confuses him again. One minute. I keep pushing Sai against the fence. Two minutes. Still the same. Sai tries to reverse with two minutes left.

Sai pushes him away. Headbutt attempt. Drive straight from McDonald’s instead. Jab and hook Su, long uppercut just misses. McDonald in the body. One minute. McDonald is looking for another one-legged. Let’s get back to rubbing against the fence. 10-9 McDonald.

Round three: McDonald presses, throws a good overhand right and fires again. One minute. They disperse. Attempted body blow from Sy. Another clinch, this time Sai presses. Fight for position. Back belt lock for MacDonald. Two minutes. Knees to the body. Sai hits a half guard with two minutes left.

McDonald sneaks upstairs, places him on the fence, then knees Cy into the trash again. Still no point deduction. A body shot from Sai, who dodges a direct punch. Round one: Cooper III comes out with a roar and starts to hit right on the fence. Cooper attempts to push back, but Cooper III knocks him down with knees and body punches before finishing him off.

Final result: Cooper III def. Cooper via TKO (knee and punches)

170 lbs: Magomed Magomedkerimov vs. Dilano Taylor

Round one: Taylor’s fast jab. Magomedkerimov throws a combo and throws a left hook. One minute. Both men sit out of reach. Short collision, no takedown. Quick exchange in the center. Magomedkerimov tries a header, eats a low kick. Slow first round. Body shot in the clinch, cannot land on the right exit. Two minutes left.

An attempted flying switch kick hits Taylor in the groin, but he decides to continue. Unexpected takedown of Magomedkerimov. Standing over Taylor near the cage, sits in the guard. Solid standing shots from Magomedkerimov give Taylor a chance to get up, but he is immediately thrown back to the defense. 10-9 Magomedkerimov.

Second round: Magomedkerimov receives a low kick. Hi-lo 1-2 from Taylor. A powerful counterattack to the right of Magomedkerimov responds to a low kick in a minute. Long 1-2 doesn’t work. Two minute sin. Let’s get back to touch sparring. Taylor tries another naked low kick and Magomedkerimov throws the exact same counterpunch to great effect. Taylor nearly hits the mat, but manages to get back on his feet. Two minutes left.

155 lbs: Larissa Pacheco vs Gena Fabian

Round one: Pacheco advances early. She knocks Fabian down with an inside low kick and then hits her with a hard combo that makes Fabian shoot. Pacheco denies it, moves to the rear body lock, and then lowers her into the fence post. The triangle of the hand is there for her and she wraps it up. She can’t go into lateral control due to the cage and Fabian’s resistance. Caught in midfield, still squeezing. Return to the mount and she releases it to fend off punches until the referee intervenes.

Final result: Pacheco def. Fabian by TKO (punches)

170 lbs: Jarrah Al Silavi vs. Magomed Umalatov

Round one: preliminary start. One minute, not a single hit. Umalatov hits the clinch at the fence. Separation. Low kicks from Al-Silavi. Two minutes have passed. The ref wants to fight, the crowd is furious. Incomplete low-kick from Umalatov. Decent knee clinch. Al-Silawi returns with the jab. Two minutes left.

Umalatov is looking for 1-2-3. Al-Silavi catches one of his punches, but Umalatov hits him with a short reverse fist, shorting him out. Umalatov pursues him and bombards him unconscious, abruptly ending a deadly boring fight.
