Lestat tells Louis, “I’ve been watching you for a while, Louis. I could change this shameful life. Exchange it for a dark present. You just have to ask me for it.

Series showrunner Rolyn Jones described the series at Comic-Con as an “aggressive, beautiful love story” that would be more “even more respectful” of the novel than the hit 1994 film, which starred Tom Cruise as Lestat, and Brad Pitt as Louie. It is reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Molloy, the journalist in the story who interviews Louie, “does a much better job than in the books” in the series, Jones said, and “that some version, the original version of Prince Brother, has been brought back into it.” ‘

Boghosian gave details of the show’s storyline, as his character had previously tried in vain to interview Louie as a rookie reporter.

“The script makes it very clear that this happened 40+ years later, and Daniel is no longer the same boy who was an aspiring journalist, just getting started, taping an interview with a vampire,” Bogosian said. “Now he’s getting a second crack at it. He is very successful, his career is actually on the decline, and this is his last chance to get the ring. It’s dangerous, but he wants the story.

He continued, “He’s a lot smarter than when he was a kid. He won’t let Louis lie to him. He’s going to get history. Afraid, of course, afraid. And he’s trying to scare me.

“There is also a temptation. He always sits there. He says, “I can make you one of us if you want,” and this is always present as a temptation. It’s very difficult and it was wonderful to play.”

Executive producer Mark Johnson said there were high hopes that the series would lead to more content from the book, as well as other Rice material.

“The books are so funny and so different,” Johnson said. “Sometimes it’s hard to believe that they are connected, but they are. While one might be about vampires, another might be about witches, and a third might be about god knows what, they’re all related.

“Guys, you tell us if it’s going to be a franchise or not, but I believe this world, Anne Rice’s world, will exist on AMC for a while.”
