Chelsea Handler opened up about the end of her relationship with comedian boyfriend Jo Coy on Monday in a video posted to Instagram that was filmed before they decided to break up.
“In anticipation of celebrating our first year together, Joe and I pre-recorded this video, but as many of you have noticed, it’s with heavy hearts that we decided together that we had better take a break from our relationship right now,” she shared. with four million subscribers.
“I know that many of you were invested in our love and I wanted to express to you how much it meant to both of us. How much it still means. And how much I now believe in love for each of us.”
Handler wrote that Coy “blew my heart with love” and credited him with changing her life experience “forever”.

The couple first met through mutual friends over 20 years ago and then worked together on her former E! late night Chelsea show.
“Being loved and adored by @jokoy has been one of the greatest gifts of my life,” she continued. “He revived my faith in men, in love, in the fact that I am 100% who I am, and I have never been so optimistic about the future.
“Joe, you blew my creativity, my thirst to work hard again, to be on the road again, and you reminded me of who I was and always have been, and my feet have never been so firmly planted in the ground.”
It was rumored that Handler and Coy were spotted at a Los Angeles Dodgers game in August 2021, but their relationship was made official on Instagram later that month.

“This is not the end,” she continued in her post. “This is another beginning, and it is a comfort to know that I am still loved and love this person as the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sun.
“So please keep cheering for both of us because you never know what life will bring and let’s go to the theater first on August 5th to buy tickets for Joe’s new movie Easter Sunday and Philippine PRIDE! Go!”
On Monday, Coy shared a photo with Handler on his Instagram account and wrote: “Just wanting to let everyone know that Chelsea and I will always remain great friends and will always love each other.
“I am her biggest fan and I can’t wait for you all to see what she has in store for the future. Keep killing, Chelsea! Waving a whale!”

A source told People magazine that their inner circle had their fingers crossed for reconciliation.
“Their friends are hoping they can still work it out,” the insider said. “But if anything, it’s clear that their relationship has changed both of them for the better.”
In October, Handler said she “fell in love at the age of 46” during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“Then I had a friend, Jo Koy, who was in my life for a very long time,” she explained. “And then one day I just looked at him and thought: “Oh, this is my guy!” So he’s like my best friend and then I also, you know, have sex with him. Fun time!”
Handler told the audience that if she can find love in her 40s, so can others.
“So if there is a friend in your life that you think you don’t like or that doesn’t appeal to you, just remember my story and be open-minded,” she advised.
