White dresses look good on Jennifer Lopez.
The superstar married Ben Affleck in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022 and wore two different wedding dresses for the happy occasion, one of which she called “from an old movie.”
While it’s unknown which movie she had in mind, the singer-slash actress has said “Yes” in a significant number of films over the years, from 2001’s The Wedding Planner to 2022’s Marry Me. And for these on-screen nuptials, she wore bridal looks ranging from a simple ivory sheath to an embellished couturier.
Lopez also walked down the aisle four times in real life; before tying the knot with Affleck, she was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, Chris Judd from 2001 to 2004 and Ojani Noah from 1997 to 1998.
Look back at every wedding dress JLo has worn, both for her real-life marriages and for the movies.
Marriage to Ben Affleck (2022)
To marry her former Gigli co-star in Sin City, Lopez wore a duet of dresses, one of which was an off-the-shoulder lace dress from Zuhair Murad’s bridal collection with long sleeves, corseted bodice and fishtail train. She completed the look with a traditional lace-trimmed veil, a bridal bouquet and, of course, a green diamond engagement ring.
Confirming the wedding in her On The JLo newsletter, the “Waiting for Tonight” hitmaker also shared photos and videos of herself in a sleeveless floral jacquard dress by Alexander McQueen.
“I’ve had this dress for so many years and I just kept it, saved it, saved it, and now I’m wearing it on my wedding day,” she said of her second look.
“Shooting Wedding” (2022)
Lopez stars alongside Josh Duhamel in the upcoming film, in which, according to IMDb, “criminals have taken over the couple’s extravagant wedding.”
Judging by the shooting photos that the main character of the film shared on social networks, she spends most of the film in this wedding dress with a corset and a tiered skirt, which becomes more and more ragged as the story progresses.
“Marry Me” (2022)
As music superstar Kat Valdez, J.Lo wears a spectacular Zuhair Murad Couture creation covered in metallic embroidery and embellishments to marry handsome Bastian (Maluma) in front of thousands of fans. But when she discovers that he is cheating on her, she instead decides to say “Yes” to a random audience member (Owen Wilson).
“The dress weighed 95 pounds and it took five people to transport it, plus an escort to put Jennifer in and out, but it gave the dress so much volume,” costume designer Caroline Duncan told Variety, adding that the “extremely heavy” dress was meant to serve as a visual metaphor for the character’s oversized, over-the-top public wedding.
“El Cantante” (2006)
Filmed just a couple of years after Lopez and co-star Marc Anthony got married, this biopic is based on the life of the late salsa singer Hector Lavoe. As Lavoe’s fiancee, Poochie, J.Lo wore this high-waisted lace gown with a cascading veil.
“Monster in Law” (2005)
Turn the Loud crooner and Jane Fonda (starring) collide in this romantic comedy, in which Lopez wears an ivory SaeYoung Vu Couture gown and gloves fit for a princess. (In order not to be outshone, Fonda’s character appears in his own white dress.)
Marriage to Marc Anthony (2004)
Lopez exchanged vows with Anthony in the backyard of her Beverly Hills home, dressed in a strapless Vera Wang gown, Neil Lane jewels and a romantic fringed veil.
Slim’s (Lopez) marriage to the abusive Mitch (Billy Campbell) in this early 2000s thriller may not have been a fairy tale, but with beaded spaghetti straps and embellished veil, her character’s bridal look was undeniably beautiful.
Marrying Chris Judd (2001)
Lopez married dancer and choreographer Chris Judd in a stunning Valentino gown with floral lace and sheer embellished sleeves.
“Wedding Planner” (2001)
In one of J.Lo’s most beloved rom-coms, her character, wedding planner Mary Fiore, prepares to say yes to Massimo Justin Chambers in a vintage boat-neck dress and a pillbox hat with a polka-dot veil. (Eventually she ends up with the right guy, the dimpled Dr. Matthew McConaughey Steve).
When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in a matching Givenchy dress in 2018, comparisons between the two dresses flooded social media.
“I got a lot of messages about Meghan Markle’s wedding dress,” costume designer Pam Chilton told Glamor. “I’m like, ‘Well, I’m sure it’s a coincidence.’ But she was in a good age of romantic comedies when the movie came out – she could watch it at sleepovers!”
Marriage to Ojani Noa (1997)
To marry her first husband, actor Ojani Noah, Lopez wore a sleeveless white lace dress and styled her hair in a high bun adorned with flowers.
